Balletto Vineyard - Green Valley

Before there were vines, there were vegetables. John Balletto started farming in 1977 with his mother, Hazel, on five acres in Sebastopol. The family grew that into Northern California’s largest vegetable farm before turning to wine grapes in the mid-1990s. This vineyard sits in Green Valley, the coolest and foggiest corner of the Russian River Valley. Fog pours in from the Pacific through the Petaluma Gap and holds over fine, free-draining Goldridge sandy loam, which slows ripening and keeps acidity bright. The source for our Chardonnay. The Balletto family, John, Terri and daughters Jacqueline and Caterina, farms this site.
